A BLOCK of flats could be built at a business complex if planning is approved.

A planning application has been submitted to Portsmouth City Council to turn part of the IMB building, at Lakeside North Harbour, off Western Road, Cosham, into a block of flats.

The application, put in by North Harbour Unit Trust, will see 108 flats built - 96 two bedroom and 12 one bedroom.

The current building, used solely by IMB, is deemed too big and most of the building will be turned into flats.

But some of the ground floor on the eastern side will remain office space and will act as an extension to 1000 Lakeside.

The entrance to the flats will be through the existing entrance and will serve both residential and business users.

The current 204 car parking spaces will be re-designated for residential use.

In the application, it states that IMB’s lease on 9000 Lakeside is due to end and the building will be vacant.

The application is open for comments until June 6.
