PLANS to build 38 homes on a former school site have been given the green light.

Councillors on the planning committee at Havant Borough Council voted to approve the plans for the former Barncroft Infant School, in Barncroft Way, Bedhampton.

It comes as the infant school is being demolished following a £5m revamp of the next-door junior school building, which has become the amalgamated Barncroft Primary School.

Hampshire County Council, which owns the site, now has outline planning permission and can sell the site to a developer. A more detailed application would have to be submitted before any work started.
