A CEREMONY will mark the launch of the Wymering Manor Trust today.

The board of nine members have taken ownership of Wymering Manor, in Old Wymering Lane, Wymering, Portsmouth, from the city council.

Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt, who is chairwoman of the trust, will hold a talk at St Peter & St Paul’s Church, in Medina Road, Cosham, from 9.15am.

It will be followed by people getting a tour of the historic manor, which is mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book.

Ownership of the Grade II listed historic building has been transferred to a trust of volunteers by the city council after attempts to sell it failed.

The building has been a vicarage, home to a Catholic religious order, a family house and most recently was a youth hostel. It has sat unused since 2006.
