THE Mayor and Mayoress of Havant donned their wellies and waterproofs to do their bit for the planet.
Mayor Ken Smith and his wife Hazel took part in a tree hunt at Staunton Country Park and helped to plant 40 trees.
The fact-finding event involved identifying the various species, including a Giant Redwood.
More than 20 residents turned up to take part in the tree hunt, which was led by Ralph Cousins, a volunteer tree warden for the borough.
Despite a drizzly day, the tree hunters enjoyed a great day out.
Councillor Smith said: ‘It was a great opportunity to spend time walking the route with families from the borough and planting trees together to enhance the woodland area.
‘Ralph was very knowledgeable about the trees en route.’
