HAMPSHIRE County Council has denied claims that 1,800 council jobs are under threat.

UKIP has announced that up to 1,800 jobs are threatened but the Tory-led authority has said that number is wrong.

Ray Finch, UKIP group leader on the council, said they had been told by a senior figure and the job losses would affect many families.

Later today, UKIP is set to meet with Liberal Democrat and Labour members to discuss plans to cut £19m from the budget by 2015.
