RESIDENTS are being urged to be on their guard for bogus telephone calls regarding their council tax.

Havant Borough Council says con artists are ringing people and offering refunds in return for bank details.

Paul Griffith, the council’s solicitor, said: ‘The council would never need to ask for a customer’s bank details over the telephone in this way.’
