HAVANT MP David Willetts rolled up his sleeves to help clear an overgrown footpath in Leigh Park.

Mr Willetts joined local councillors and a team from Lockheed Martin to pull up weeds, cut back overgrown vegetation and pick up litter along the footpaths next to the Hermitage Stream.

The clean-up is part of a wider scheme to improve access along the stream, which runs through the estate.

The team cleared a section from Dunsbury Way to St Francis church in Riders Lane.

Peter Vince, operational service manager at Havant Borough Council, said: ‘These footpaths are part of the original infrastructure around Leigh Park. We are aiming to make these paths available for residents and keen walkers to enjoy another green, natural area of the borough.’
