A MAYOR is to hold a fundraising party in his chambers in honour of three charities.

Next Tuesday sees the second of six mayoral charity tea parties at Gosport Town Hall.

Fifty tickets are available for the function which will include a raffle, guest speaker Pam Marsden, who will give a talk on life as a local magistrate, and afternoon tea with the mayor. There is also a chance for guests to explore the chambers.

Mayor John Beavis said he was ‘delighted’ to be able to hold the event, adding: ‘It is good to be able to offer people an opportunity to enjoy tea in the council chamber.’

The party will start at 2.30pm and finish around 4.30pm.

The mayor is looking to build on the success of his first tea party hosted in July, which completely sold out and raised more than £300 for chosen charities Motiv8, Connect Advocay and Learning to sail Lee-on-the-Solent sailing club. Tickets cost £3 each. Email michelle.barrett@gosport.gov.uk or call 9254 5202.
