THE architect behind a stunning seafront home has won an award for its creation.

Andy Ramus, of AR Design Studio, was the creative force behind the £1m property on Hill Head Road in Hill Head for owners Lynne and Adrian Sproson.

He has been given the Royal Institute of Architects Downland Award for his work on the home, dubbed Lighthouse 65.

The award is given to the project that celebrates the added value that an architect brings to relatively small projects under £1.5m and the chemistry between architects, clients, contractors and suppliers of successful buildings.

The building’s concept was to maximize the building’s width, so that every key room enjoys expansive views of the Solent.

To prevent it from blocking views from the street, the house sits seven yards below road level.
