VISITORS will soon be able to get useful pointers from city businesses as the council pledges to turn more into official information points.
Portsmouth City Council is working with local attractions, public facilities and businesses on a scheme that trains them to offer professional visitor information services.
The council will teach staff at the locations and keep them supplied with a range of leaflets and other materials.
The first has opened at the Portsmouth International Port’s security desk in the passenger terminal.
Cllr Luke Stubbs, the council’s cabinet member for planning, regeneration and economic development, said: ‘It’s great that many locations in the city are already giving informal visitor advice. This scheme builds on that.’
