AT LEAST 50 stiles are to be removed from across the county in favour of gates with easier access by the end of 2013.

The Stiles2Gates scheme will see ageing or particularly high stiles in Hampshire substituted with gates or kissing gates to enable easier access for children and people with limited mobility.

The work is being supported by the South Downs National Park authority and funded from Hampshire County Council’s community challenge fund.

To report a damaged stile contact the county’s countryside Service at countryside@hants.gov.uk or call 0845 603563.
