AN ASSOCIATION angry over the decision by a council to lease a community centre to a school will not take it to a judicial review.

Fareham Borough Council said it has received confirmation from Portchester Community Association that it won’t be appealing the authority’s choice.

The lease for the new Portchester Community Centre can now be offered to Portchester Community School, which will be invited to take over the running of the new community centre in November.

Under the terms of the lease, Portchester Community School will have responsibility for managing and operating the new community centre.

Leader of the council, Cllr Sean Woodward, said: ‘The development will offer the residents of Portchester a new children’s centre, provision for a pre-school, a large multi-purpose hall, meeting rooms and a kitchen.’
