LIBRARY times across Portsmouth are set to change.

Following calls for more convenient library opening times, some branches will change their Saturday hours, open later in the evening, and the central library will reopen on Fridays.

Three of the Portsmouth libraries are open till late once a week. Cosham library on a Tuesday, North End on a Wednesday and Southsea Library on a Thursday, will be open until 8pm.

The late opening hours are offered as a one-year pilot but will be made permanent from November next year if they prove popular.

Lindy Elliott, library services manager, said: ‘We want our libraries to be accessible to everyone, including those who have not found our hours convenient in the past. I hope these new opening times will be popular with all our residents.’
