AFFORDABLE homes are being built in a picturesque corner of West Sussex – but only people with local connections can apply to live there.

The 15 properties off Summerfield Road in West Wittering will include two-bedroom bungalows, two-bedroom houses, three-bedroom houses and one four-bedroom house.

But potential residents have strict criteria to meet in order to live in the housing association properties.

Applicants must prove they have lived in the area for at least the previous 12 months, are permanently employed in West Wittering, or have parents, siblings or children living in the area or have been forced out of the area due to lack of affordable homes.

A registration event is taking place at the Sports Pavilion, Rookwood Road on July 3 from 3pm to 7pm.

Staff from Chichester District Council and Hyde Martlet housing association will be available to discuss the development.
