CHIEFS behind plans to claw back powers from central government are hoping for the green light.

Hampshire County Council’s cabinet welcomed devolution plans for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight at a meeting yesterday. Leader Roy Perry said the bid-makers are answering government queries over housing and accountability.

Cllr Perry said: ‘If it is good news in the new year, the hard work really begins to underpin the detail within our proposals, as well as to begin planning a public consultation and governance review.’
