SERVICEMEN and women suffering from mental health issues will benefit from a dinner.

Councillor Paul Buckley, the Mayor of Havant, is a former Royal Navy commander and has chosen Combat Stress as one of the charities he will support during his year in office.

On November 6 he will host a charity dinner at Emsworth Sailing Club featuring a talk by the chief executive of the charity.

Cllr Buckley said: ‘Combat Stress works to help servicemen who have seen terrible things and suffered incredible pressure while serving in conflicts all over the world.

‘When they come home they often find it very difficult to cope and suffer from mental health issues.

‘As a former naval officer I know there is an essential need out there to support our servicemen and veterans.’

The Stroke Association and Relate will also benefit.

Tickets are £28. Call 01243 373065.
