EXTRA car parking facilities are being recommended for Wickham and Bishop’s Waltham as part of a review.
Winchester City Council has launched a new parking strategy for the district.
A report outlines that the city’s car parks are the main source of income from off-street parking – with around £4.3m being generated in 2012/2013.
The strategy states that Wickham and Bishop’s Waltham need extra capacity as their car parks are nearly always full.
The report states the centre of Denmead is ‘buoyant’ and is well-served by the current free parking provision.
The council is asking people to comment on the plans, which include expanding park-and-ride facilities.
Councillor Jan Warwick, in charge of neighbourhoods and environment at Winchester City Council, said: ‘Car parking is important to many of us and often a topic of great debate. I look forward to hearing a wide range of views.
‘This consultation is specifically about off-street car parking provision and management for which Winchester City Council has responsibility.’
The consultation will last six weeks.
