GOSPORT MP Caroline Dinenage met Lloyds Banking Group to learn about its university scholarship programme.
The Lloyds Scholars scheme is aimed at gifted young people from lower income households of less than £25,000 a year, and is designed to help them through university courses.
The programme is run with establishments across the UK, including universities in Bristol, Edinburgh, Oxford, Sheffield and Warwick and University College London.
Ms Dinenage said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get some invaluable support and experience.
‘For some, access to university can seem impossible because of the costs involved, but Lloyds Scholars can help students overcome these challenges by providing a perfect platform to develop a great career.’
Applications are open until July 27 for eligible students offered a place at the universities to start in September and October this year.
