CHICHESTER District Council has recruited its first female chief executive in its 38-year history.

Diane Shepherd has worked in local government for 24 years as an accountant and in personnel. The 45-year-old said: ‘I’m delighted and honoured to be offered this role.

‘I have worked at this council for 21 years, and so I know how special the district is to the people who live and work within it.’
