DOUBLE yellow lines are set to be introduced in parts of Cowplain over safety concerns.

Havant Borough Council is poised to bring in the restrictions for parts of Amethyst Grove, Harkness Drive, Kassel Close, Salet Way, Starina Gardens, Topaz Grove and Tuscany Way – mainly around junctions.

Parking restrictions between 8am and 9am and 2.30pm and 4pm are also set to be introduced for parts of Cardinal Drive, Cornelius Drive and Lysander Way.

A report says: ‘During school drop-off and pick-up times, roads in the vicinity of the southern access to Queen’s Inclosure Primary School experience congestion. Parking is taking place on both sides of the road and on the junctions which is restricting visibility in both directions and forcing vehicles into the centre of the carriageway into the path of oncoming vehicles.

‘This raises significant safety concerns with regards to the safety of schoolchildren and cyclists at these key times.’

Meanwhile, the council has agreed for double yellows around a new access road off New Lane, Havant.
