PLANS to build more beach huts will be considered at a meeting next week.
Portsmouth City Council is proposing 25 huts and timber decking opposite the junction of St George’s Road and Southsea Esplanade. It is also proposing 25 huts and a new timber boardwalk on the northern edge of Eastney beach. Together, the 50 new huts are projected to bring in £20,000 a year.
In a consultation carried out last year, 61 per cent of people agreed more beach huts should be built to generate income.
The two plans will be considered by the council’s planning committee at 5pm on December 9 at the Guildhall.
