THE leader of Portsmouth City Council says he won’t take action against councillor Mike Hancock following a committee’s decision to suspend an investigation into his conduct.
As previously reported, the council’s governance and audit and standards sub-committee decided to delay its decision over whether Cllr Hancock broke the council’s conduct of conduct and sexually assaulted a woman who came to him for help.
Councillor Gerald Vernon-Jackson previously dismissed the Labour party’s request that Cllr Hancock be temporarily suspended from his cabinet position until everything is finished – and said he still stands by his word.
He said: ‘Has anything changed? As far as I can see, nothing has. There has been a complaint, and the committee has decided to come to a conclusion, but only after the court case.’
