CITY MP Mike Hancock is expected to remain in hospital for some time, according to a statement on his website.

Mr Hancock, who represents the south of Portsmouth, will be kept in care for another ‘seven to 10 days at least.’

It’s unknown what he is being treated for.

The statement said he would like to say thank everyone who has written to him with letters of support, and his offices in Portsmouth and London remain open as usual.

As previously reported, a civil case has been brought against him over claims he sexually assaulted a female constituent – something he strongly denies.

He has been suspended from the Liberal Democrats, after the party obtained a copy of a report into his conduct, which focuses on the contact he had with the woman, and he has stepped down from Portsmouth City Council’s cabinet – but he is still allowed to attend Lib Dem group meetings.
