FLICK Drummond has become vice-chairwoman of the government’s All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty.

The group, led by Labour MP Kate Green, will tackle a range of issues over the next five years. Mrs Drummond said: ‘I think that alleviating poverty is really about aspiration, and the group is going to be looking at areas that can help with this such as better education, which is a real issue in Portsmouth, and a living wage. There are districts of our city where poverty is a problem, and being on this group is another part of my plan for Portsmouth that is hopefully going to improve people’s lives.’
