A YOUNGSTER from Gosport will represent young people at a county level.

Alex Maynard, 20, was picked from 38 people who applied to be a youth voice representative at Hampshire County Council.

Seven people were shortlisted for interview.

Alex, a University of Portsmouth student, has been a member of Youth Parliament for Hampshire before.

He said he was keen to do the role, which started this month.

He said: ‘I am delighted to have been chosen to carry out this role.

I look forward to the challenges involved and helping to enable young people to have a say.’

Alex was chosen along with Amelia Wrigley, 16, of Winchester. The pair will work with the council’s children’s services department.
