THE country’s best-known annual classical music event will be broadcast live to Portsmouth this Saturday.
The Last Night of the Proms will be beamed from London’s Royal Albert Hall to Guildhall Square’s Big Screen from 7.30pm.
Brass quartet Belles of Brass play from 7pm, before the broadcast starts with a world premiere of Sir Maxwell Davies’ Musica Benevolens, which include the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Chorus and military trumpeters.
Other compositions will include works by Chopin, Grainger, Bartók, Wagner, Liszt and Britten, followed by the event’s most famous final sequence, which will feature Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and The National Anthem.
