The three council trade unions, Unison, Unite and GMB are working together to oppose the budget cuts.

The protest will be held at Guildhall Square from 1.30pm.

Jon Woods, chairman of Portsmouth Trade Union Council, said: ‘The crisis at Queen Alexandra Hospital can only be intensified by £2m cuts to health and social care.

‘Additional money in the budget is nowhere enough to address constantly growing additional pressures.

‘These cuts are a disaster.’

The protest will have a Valentine’s Day theme with a giant Valentine’s Day card being presented to council leader Donna Jones. The cards will give individual reason why workers love their trade unions.
