DON’T just throw away your Christmas tree.

Havant Borough Council says it wants residents to recycle them instead.

Anyone who is signed up to the council’s garden waste collection service just needs to chop up the tree.

Residents can put them in their garden waste sack or bin, as long as the tree is cut up so the trunk is no bigger than nine centimetres in diameter.

Collections start again today. Alternatively, take it to recycling centres in Havant, Hayling Island or Waterlooville.
