THE national flag of Gibraltar will fly outside a town hall.

Councillors at Havant Borough Council have agreed to fly the national flag of Gibraltar outside the Plaza, in Havant, for the second year running on September 10, in celebration of Gibraltar national day.

Rodney Pereira, who lives in Cowplain and originally hails from Gibraltar, contacted council officers asking if they would consider raising the flag to mark the day.

Mr Pereira will be presenting the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Marjorie Smallcorn, with the Gibraltar flag as a gift to the borough to ensure it can be flown in time for the celebration, and in years to come.

Cllr Smallcorn said: ‘We are delighted to able to act on our resident’s request and to recognise the national day, supporting the links between Britain and Gibraltar.’
