PRESSURE is being put on the company running a leisure centre earmarked for closure to sort out refunds for its customers.

Since being told that Holbrook Leisure Centre in Gosport is due to close at the end of June, people who shelled out £45 for three-month swimming passes have been left uncertain about how to get their money back.

Gosport Borough Council decided to close the it, which runs the centre, because it says the roof was badly damaged by recent bad weather and is no longer safe to open.

Cllr Mark Hook, leader of the council, said: ‘It’s disgraceful if people aren’t getting refunds and I will talk to Planet Ice.

‘As far as I’m concerned, if people have got a pass they can’t use they should get their money returned.’

Sam Parkinson, 37, bought a pass in mid-May. The school support worker said: ‘I want my money back if they can’t honour it. It’s as simple as that. When I first went to the centre they referred me back to the council, but then I heard nothing.

‘I feel like I’ve been conned out of my money.’

Planet Ice was put into administration in January.

A staff member who did not want to be named said: ‘Nobody has been told they won’t be getting a refund.

‘It’s on hold until we hear from above what’s going to be done.’
