A POPULAR rugby club is to have a refurbishment.
Chichester District Council has granted planning permission for an extension to the clubhouse at Chichester Rugby Club, which is in the north-east corner of Oaklands Park.
The work to be undertaken includes improving the facilities, especially for the younger players, and introducing a lift to improve disabled access.
It will also include a new entrance lobby, and an enlarged balcony.
The accommodation facilities will be upgraded.
A planning statement submitted by the rugby club said because of recent successes of both the youth section and seniors, the club had outgrown the facilities provided by the current building.
This season is the club’s 85th anniversary and also the 65th anniversary of it playing in Oaklands Park.
