THE public have the chance to find out more about a major upgrade of street lighting.
Hampshire County Council has signed a private finance initiative with Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE) to replace or upgrade 150,000 street lights across the borough of Havant with the latest technology – including energy saving lamps and dimming controls.
It is hoped the new lighting will provide better lighting clarity and less light pollution due to the new lights pointing downwards.
They also hope it will improve road safety, increase personal security and mean a reduction in carbon.
Officers will answer questions about the project in Havant town centre October 23 from 9am to 4pm and Waterlooville town centre on October 26 from 9am to 4pm.
