A COUNCIL tax freeze is being backed by leaders at a local authority.

Cabinet members of Chichester District Council have backed proposals not to increase the authority’s element of the council tax.

It means the average taxpayer would continue paying the council £2.71 a week for services such as bin collection and street cleaning.

A final decision will be made on March 10.
