A former editor of The News has written of what he feels are rising tensions in Portsmouth.

Mike Gilson, who is now editor of the Belfast Telegraph, gave his impressions in a comment piece for his newpaper following a visit to the city for the Great South Run.

He expressed concern at changes since he worked here from 200 until 2007 but said he was confident that Portsmouth’s true spirit would win through.
