AN ‘EMBARRASSING’ bus station was at the centre of a visit by Ukip’s transport spokesman MEP Jill Seymour.

Mrs Seymour visited Gosport to meet parliamentary prospective candidate Chris Wood.

The Ukip councillor for Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council was discussing the changes he wants to make to the bus station in the town centre.

Cllr Wood said: ‘Quite frankly this structure belongs to the 1970s and not the 21st century.

‘It is the first thing you see when you exit the ferry and it is an absolute embarrassment to our town.

‘I have an ambitious plan to redevelop this entire site, to replace the bus station and to build bars, restaurants and a hotel.

‘We can transform this hub into something the town can be really proud of, it will draw people in and that will act as a catalyst through which we can improve the entire High Street.’
