PROTESTERS gathered in the Guildhall Square this afternoon to demonstrate against cuts proposed by Portsmouth City Council.

Trade union members met ahead of the full council meeting today where the council will decide on its budget.

Darin McCloud, a representative from Unite, was one of around 30 gathered.

He said: ‘We are fighting for people’s jobs. The council aren’t listening to us.’

Other protesters included members of Unison and the Trade Union Council.

Carrying banners, they staged a noisy protest.
