POMPEY Legends XI took on Saints Legends XI yesterday in front of several hundred people in a bid to raise cash for a local project.

The match – which Pompey Legends XI lost 3-1 – was held to raise funds for a new building for Locks Heath Free Church.

Pompey’s only goal was scored by Kev ‘the kitman’ McCormack after a last minute penalty which was taken by Lee Bradbury and passed up to Kev.

As well as the football game, organisers also held a family fun afternoon with activites including a penalty shoot-out an auction with football memorabilia.

One of the organisers Peter Jeffs said: ‘It was a great success and the atmosphere was fantastic.’

Locks Heath Free Church needs to generate £4.2m for the project and has been holding many fundraising events to help reach the target.
