FRATTON Park favourites of yesteryear made a donation to families affected by the world’s worst nuclear disaster.

Legends including Ray Hiron, John Milkins and Ray Crawford, all members of the Ex-PFC Professionals Reunion Club, presented £1,000 to aid victims of the Chernobyl explosion in Ukraine 25 years ago.

The club, working with the Haslemere-based Chernobyl Children’s Life Line, has sent donations to families affected by the disaster in the former Soviet Union since 2003.

The link with the charity was formed by club vice-president and treasurer Lyn Powell after speaking to a neighbour who was helping Chernobyl children.

Since it was formed in 1963, the players’ reunion club has raised £500,000 for charity.
