AUDITIONS are being held to cast a rather unusual character in romantic opera.

The Kings Theatre, on Albert Road, in Southsea, is holding auditions for six dogs who will go along for a chance to star in their production of La Boheme.

The lucky winner will star as the character Muzetta’s pet dog when the show starts on April 6.

The pooches and their owners have been invited to do their final rehearsal on Monday.

Director and producer of the show, Ellen Kent, said that using local people and their pets has been a great success in the past.

She said: ‘I’m sure there is plenty of doggie talent out there.’

Tickets for the opera can be purchased on the website at kings-southsea.com
