A GRAPHIC designer has traded in his office job to pursue his artistic dream and is now showcasing his first exhibition.

Steve Byrne, 53, from Copnor, was born and raised in Portsmouth and has lived in London for the last 30 years, working for the likes of Peter Gabriel, Paul Weller, the Womad festival and London Underground.

He is now back in his home city and is excited to be hosting his first show.

Steve, who has designed pop posters paying tribute to a host of music stars, said: ‘I’m a graphic designer, not really an artist as such, because my work has always been for clients, but I really wanted to do something a bit different. Art is what I do and music is my love and I wanted to bring the two of them together – I had no idea it would take off like it has, it’s very exciting.’

Pop-art is on now at the Lodge Arts Centre in Victoria Park. It runs until Sunday, April 24. Entry is free.
