A BUSY post office will undergo a revamp later this month.
The current office at the Co-op in High Street, Emsworth, will be upgraded to a main-style branch.
There will be a refurbishment, as well as longer opening hours.
Selected post office services will also be available at the retail counter during normal shop opening hours.
The current branch will close for refurbishment work at 6pm on Monday, January 19.
The new-look office is scheduled to open on Wednesday, January 28 at 1pm.
Stephanie Elsy, chairwoman of the Emsworth Forum, said it was good news for the town.
It comes after three banks have closed in the last year.
The Nationwide Building Society, Lloyds and Barclays have all left the town, leaving only NatWest.
Adrian Skinner, area manager for the post office, said: ‘We’ve decided, with Southern Co-operative’s agreement to change the branch to one of our new main-style branch.
‘This change is part of a major programme of modernisation and investment taking place across the network which will see up to 8,000 branches modernised.
‘The programme is underpinned by government investment.’
