A BANNER for a charity event in Portchester has been stolen for a second time.

The sign advertising a car boot sale for Macmillan Cancer Support was stolen from a fence in Cornaway Lane last week.

When signage company Key2 Group read the article in The News, the firm offered to replace it and it was put up outside The Seagull pub on Wednesday. But yesterday, the banner was snatched again.

Shirley Pearce, fundraiser for Macmillan, said: ‘I am really shocked and upset. I am upset for everybody that put all their hard work into this.

‘I am quite surprised they have gone out in broad daylight and cut it down. We are a small group.’

The car boot sale takes place tomorrow in Cornaway Lane from 11am until 3pm.
