PEOPLE of all abilities are invited to join the Portsmouth and District Angling Society for national fishing month.

In August, the society is holding a series of events where people can try fishing for the first time, or just develop their skills.

For the novices, there will be experienced licensed coaches there to show how to cast a line and use bait so people can catch their first fish.

For the more experienced angler, it is a chance to meet like-minded people, and make new friends within the sport.

All the events will be free with qualified coaches passing on any words of wisdom, with bait and tackle being provided.

The events will be held between 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5, at Baffins Pond in Baffins, Portsmouth.

The final event is at Tithe Barn Lakes, Titchfield, on Wednesday, August 19.

Those who want to try their hand at a new sport, can contact Michael Collins on 07956 656491.
