CYCLISTS can get free check-ups for their bikes at a series of sessions being held in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth City Council is holding the Bike Doctor events where people can get their wheels, gears and brakes checked. Any minor adjustments or basic repairs can be made there and then.

Sessions are every Wednesday between 10am and 3pm in Commercial Road, near the fountain.

They are also being held every Monday starting on July 25 in Cosham High Street between 10am and 3pm.

Cllr Jim Fleming, cabinet member for traffic and transportation, said: ‘We are passionate about getting more people cycling. Offering free checks and basic repairs is a great way of encouraging people to get on their bikes.’
