portsmouth.co.uk has won a major industry award.

We were voted Website of the Year at the London and South East region at the 2013 EDF Energy Awards.

The award was announced at a presentation lunch at Sandown Park racecourse.

Judges said: ‘portsmouth.co.uk was the first to get the new Johnston Press website template and the result is a striking redesign.

‘Live blogs have been a particular feature live coverage of the High Court case in which the Pompey Supporters Trust won control of the club.’

The work of several journalists from The News was recognised at the awards. Chief sports writer Neil Allen was shortlisted in the Digital Journalist of the Year category, chief reporter Chris Owen was on the shortlist for Feature Writer of the Year, business editor Emma Judd was shortlisted as Columnist of the Year and the shortlist for Daily Print Journalist of the Year included defence correspondent Sam Bannister and health reporter Priya Mistry.
