Have your say

My name is Abigail Webster and I am 18 years old and from Southampton.

I graduated from Barton Peveril College in June with four A-levels and an extended project in radio broadcasting.

I could have gone to university to study a media-related course, however once I had found out about Highbury College and its journalism course, I knew it was for me.

I love to read and write and have a huge interest in the media and what’s happening around the world. I wanted to do the course as it gives me the opportunity to experience the field I want to go into. I have the chance to research within central Portsmouth to find the best and latest stories.

Not only am I doing the course to get a lot of experience within the field of journalism, I am doing it to build on a portfolio and expand my skills.

In the future I am aiming to pursue a career in broadcast journalism, in particular radio, as I have previously had my own radio show which I really enjoyed.

At the end of this course I hope the skills I learn will help me to pursue my ambition to become a broadcast journalist.
