PORTSMOUTH Film Society will mark Black History Month with a screening of a documentary.
The acclaimed piece called The Fade, is about four Afro barbers around the world, revealing what the profession means to the 21st century.
The documentary is set in Ghana, Jamaica, USA and UK, and interweaves the barbers’ stories.
It also examines the polarised opposites of the locations, creating an international dialogue of the colourful lives of four men who do the same thing, in different time zones, with very different realities for them.
Portsmouth Film Society is presenting the film in partnership with The New Black Portsmouth – a film club dedicated to screening films from the African population that has spread around the world.
The documentary will be shown at the Omega Centre, in Omega Street, Somers Town, on Wednesday, October 16, at 8pm.
Tickets cost £5 per person.
