A LIBRARY in Portsmouth is celebrating its 50th birthday today.
People are being urged to join a guided walk through North End from 2pm to 4pm in celebration of North End Library’s history.
The event will start and finish outside the library, in Gladys Avenue, and Bookstart Bear will make an appearance. People can also pop in the library this week and jot down their memories of it in 1963.
North End’s original library opened in April 1897 and used to be above the police station at Kingston Crescent.
