THE team behind this year’s Lord Mayor’s Charity Valentine’s Ball are half-way to a fundraising target.

Organiser Heather Emery said about £12,500 of a £25,000 target had been raised.

Profits from the ball, to take place on Saturday, February 13 from 7pm at Portsmouth Guildhall, will go towards 25 small charities across the city.

Ms Emery said: ‘It will be a ball to remember.

‘A glitz-and-glamour black-tie event with some great entertainment from the sensational Tom Canning and Steve Kingsley along with a harpist and saxophonist.’

Ms Emery said the firm TY UK had donated a Valentine’s bear for all attendees. She said: ‘Anyone who has attended my events before will know what a great night it will be.’

Charities benefiting from the ball include the Portsmouth Deaf Centre, Portsmouth Association for the Blind, Portsmouth Breast Friends and Portsmouth Samaritans. For tickets, call 07818 088332 or e-mail heather.emery@btconnect.com. The ball is sponsored by AndiCars and Richmond Hyundai.
