A GROUP of pensioners seeking changes in social care will lobby Parliament later today.

Members of the Portsmouth Pensioners’ Association will join hundreds of other pensioners for the rally at the House of Commons this afternoon.

It is part of the National Pensioners Convention’s Fair Care Campaign.

The campaign calls on the government to introduce a national care service to replace the existing adult care system.

It will push for a service to be funded through general taxation, and aims to highlight and address the issues of standards and quality of care services.

Nine members from the Portsmouth group set off for London from The Hard this morning.

The rally will include talks from Baroness Sally Greengross, Margaret Hodge MP and Alison Roche from Unison.
